Nicole NOAL

💜🖤🤍 VALE NICOLE NOAL nee BOYCE 🤍🖤💜
It is with extreme sadness that I announce the passing of our much valued club member Nicole Noal nee Boyce.
This post is a bit of a personal one as I have know Nicole for more the 3 quarters of my life.
Nicole was a much valued member of Cambridge Park Netball Club for many many years from juniors right through to seniors even when moving away while studying to become a police office and even travelling from Camden every week the past couple of years to still play for Cambridge Park.
Nicole was such a fighter. Even when life threw her every curve ball, she still took on the challenge head on. Even right till the end.
She was the most kind heart gentle selfless person I have ever met. So much so that when she was diagnosed the 2nd time round she apologised to me because it meant I was going to lose a 2nd childhood friend in less then 2 years. But that summed up Nic. Always thinking of others first.
Nicole your determination, kind heart, loving soul and every other word that one can describe you will be missed truly and deeply. The world has lost another beautiful soul and will never be the same.
You will always be remembered and will always be missed.
Much love, thoughts and prayers to the Boyce and Noal family during this time. Not only myself but also the club will always be there for you.
Love and prayers
Narelle and CPNC Committee

18 February 2025
At the end of last year we launched Senior Constable Nicole Noal‘s fundraising page.
There was an enormous and heartfelt outpouring of support for this strong and generous individual going through such a momentous time, and we thank you all for that 💙
Her colleagues and friends have now organised a Fundraising Dinner for Friday 28 March at The Cube in Campbelltown, and everyone is invited.

Nicole NOAL -02 - NSWPF 48715 - Died 26 July 2025
Nicole NOAL  & daughters.

Event description

In June 2021, Nicole was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. She commenced medical treatment and underwent several medical procedures including invasive surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

In March 2022, Nicole responded positively to surgery by entering remission.

Unfortunately, on 27th November 2024, Nicole received the devastating news that bowel cancer returned. This cancer is incurable. She was informed her life expectancy is 12 months. Nicole will be undergoing chemotherapy in the coming months. It will hopefully extend her life expectancy and assist with pain management.

All profits will go towards Nicole and her family with the mounting medical bills.

Dress for this special night is Cocktail / Semi Formal.

16 December 2024
It’s never a good time for bad news, but it hits even harder at such a family time of the year.
Senior Constable Nicole Noal has been a serving NSW Police Force officer for 13 years, and with her husband (also a NSWPF officer), is raising two young daughters.
Having faced bowel cancer several years ago, Nicole was recently given the news that it had returned, in an inoperable fashion.
She has been given 12 months to live.
Her colleagues have organised a fundraiser to help with the medical financial burden, as Nicole remains determined to create lasting memories with her family while she is able to.

Highly decorated former police officer Michael McGann passes away

Sydney’s southern suburbs lost a favourite son late last month, with the sudden death of highly decorated former police officer, Michael Patrick McGann.

Michael, often known as ‘Mick‘, died on the Gold Coast on November 29 ( 2019 ) after a short illness.

Son of Pat (dec) and Maureen, Michael spent his childhood in Sans Souci and Bexley and his school days at Marist Brothers Kogarah, before joining the NSW Police Force as a cadet in 1973 at the age of 17.

He was sworn in as a probationary constable two years later and served at stations around the St George area, including Hurstville, Peakhurst, Mortdale and Kingsgrove, which is where he began his detective training.

He worked with the Breaking Squad at the CIB in central Sydney as well as at Miranda before retiring from the force in 1991 after several years with the homicide unit.

In the following years, he worked as an investigator for the Queensland Criminal Justice Commission, the National Crime Authority, the Building Industries Task Force and the Department of Mineral Resources, as well as holding several high profile security positions in the private sector.

Police colleagues describe Michael as a highly respected and valued investigator as well as a man of courage, integrity and honour. During his career he received a number of top police awards for his work including the Commissioner’s Valour Award, the highest bravery award in the NSW Police.

It is obvious that such honours are not handed out lightly, and Michael was involved in a wide range of high profile investigations that helped keep his community safe, often at great personal risk.

Some of those situations included the 1988 arrest in Hurstville of armed bank robber, Stanley Shishova, the arrest of the Kareela cat burglar in 1984, and the Fathers’ Day bikie clash at Milperra’s Viking Tavern the same year where seven people died and 21 were injured. Michael was one of the first on the scene.

He was injured eight times during his career, including having acid poured on his back – acid so corrosive it destroyed his service pistol. He also suffered lifelong problems after being badly injured in one knee when a faulty home made gun discharged.

Michael’s funeral service included a eulogy delivered by long-time friend and colleague, Brian Harding, and a full honour guard provided by the NSW Police Force. Around 200 people attended the service including numerous friends from Sydney and past and serving officers from NSW Police.

He is survived by his partner Jill Courtney, mother Maureen, daughter Rhiannon, and brothers Paul and Peter. Michael was 63.

Lachlan Alexander Kench BRANSGROVE 08 - NSWPF 30658 - Died
At Lismore PCYC are: Senior Constable Lachlan Bransgrove with Ben Franklin MLC and PCYC Lismore Club Manager Greg Ironfield.

Nationals Member of the Legislative Council Ben Franklin said the upgrades were needed to make sure the PCYC could continue offering great facilities to the community.

“The Lismore PCYC is a really important place for schools, local clubs and groups, but most importantly, it is a safe place for young people to go, particularly those who are most vulnerable,” Mr Franklin said.

“Upgrading the facilities will mean they can be accessed more frequently and youth programs can be expanded to continue looking after vulnerable and at-risk youth in the local community.

“Ensuring that the facilities are modern also makes sure the wider community can enjoy the PCYC year round and support their wellbeing.”

The increased usability of the PCYC will mean the Club can focus on increasing the capacity of young people to come together, increase their divisionary and Aboriginal youth programs and expand NSW Police youth case management with disadvantaged young people.

Mr Greg Ironfield, Club Manager at the Lismore PCYC said this was great news for the Club.

“We’re very excited to receive funding through the Stronger Country Communities Fund,” Mr Ironfield said.

“We will be utilising the funds to upgrade our Club facilities, including adding air conditioning to our gym, martial arts and boxing rooms.”

“We will also be enhancing and expanding our Police Rise Up Programs to reach more young people in our community.”

Air conditioning and purpose-fitted doors will be installed to the gym, the martial arts room and the boxing room.

Replacing the current barred doors with more appropriate sealable doors will mean temperature regulation is possible and will provide for sustainable use of electricity through heating and cooling.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 services at the PCYC have currently been suspended in line with the Public Health Order but anyone who needs support during this time can contact the Lismore Police on 02 6626 0599.

PCYC Lismore gets a cool upgrade

Mark Anthony BRANSGROVE 01 - NSWPF 18000 - Died 7 July 2025

Mark was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ureter Epithelial Cancer in early 2024 and passed away at the Concord Palliative Unit at 8.05pm on Monday 7 July, 2025 at the age of 66 after a long battle with cancer.

* Stage 4 Ureter Epithelial Cancer (also known as Stage 4 Urothelial Carcinoma of the Renal Pelvis and Ureter) is a cancer that spreads to distant organs, such as the lungs, liver, or bones, or has metastasized to lymph nodes far from the original tumor.
It is considered advanced and has a poorer prognosis than earlier stages.

Husband to Liz, father to John and Kate, father in law to Jules.

Mark was in one of the first group of 5 NSW police officers to obtain a scholarship to study for a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Forensic Investigation from 1998 to 2001 at Canberra Institute of Technology.

Only last Tuesday 1 July, 2025 Mark was successful in having his cancer as being recognised as being hurt on duty after years of attending fire scenesResearch submitted to the HOD unit showed that Ureter Epithelium Carcinoma has a high prevalence in fire fighters and fire investigators and is on the NSWFB list of work related cancers.

Initially denied, by the NSWPF, as a Work Related injury – Mark battled against that decision and eventually had that denial overturned and had his Cancer recognised as a Hurt On Duty injury due to his years of fire investigations.

This ” win ” didn’t help the health of Mark but is may, in the future, help others afflicted with the same, or similar, conditions.

Congratulations Mark on your tenacity and strength to look after your fellow workers for out future mate.

Hi, our names are Jenna McAtamney & Sarah Wilkinson. We are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of our dear friend, Danni Matts, who recently experienced a heartbreaking tragedy.
Danni and her three children — ages 8, 7, and 8 months — are now facing life without their loving dad and step dad, Paul Matts, who passed away tragically and unexpectedly on July 8th, 2025. This loss has left the family devastated and in need of support as they begin to navigate this new reality.
Their youngest child Xavier, is just 8 months old. Danni is doing everything she can to stay strong for her kids, but she cannot do it alone.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
• Time off work for Danni
• Ongoing care for their youngest child Xavier
• emotional support for the family
•To take the financial strain from Danni, as she learns to financially support her family on her own.
Every donation will make a real difference in helping carry the burden for this family as they find stability and healing in the midst of deep loss. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your network.
Thank you for your compassion, prayers, and support. Paul was a great father to his daughter Harlow, and son Xavier, and step dad to Archer & Jasmine. He will be very missed by his children.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sarah & Jenna

12 July 2025 by Sarah Wilkinson, Organiser
We have had a lot of people asking for details about the circumstances of Paul’s death. With permission from Danni, Paul was on holidays with his Wife and kids.
Danni, Paul and their 4 kids were having a great time laughing and playing on the beach when suddenly Paul had a medical episode. Sadly he succumbed to this, we have peace knowing that Paul passed away, surrounded by the ones he loved the most.
thank you for all your donations

Community Recognition Statement – Senior Constable Paul Matts

6 February, 2020

Community Recognition Statement delivered in the Fifty-Seventh Parliament of New South Wales by the Member for Barwon Roy Butler on 4 February 2020.
Community Recognition Statement delivered in the Fifty-Seventh Parliament of New South Wales by the Member for Barwon Roy Butler on 4 February 2020.

I recognise in the House Senior Constable Paul Matts of Burren Junction. When Paul Matts moved to Burren Junction to become the local policeman he was blown away by the kindness and generosity of the community.

From invitations to dinner, helpful removalists and big waves from the local kids, Burren welcomed him warmly to the community.

To repay Burren for being so welcoming Paul in December organised a family fun day for the town.

The purpose of the event was twofold: to say thank you and to help people take people’s minds off the drought.

Paul moved heaven and earth to put on an afternoon and evening of entertainment—from slip’n’slides, to movies, a visit from Santa and a raffle for a family holiday. Burren had it all, thanks to Paul.

For that afternoon, the town put the drought to the back of their minds, came together and had a good time.

I went along and saw all the smiling faces on the kids who were having a great time. I was a really good afternoon.

On behalf of Burren Junction, Thank you, Senior Constable Paul Matts.

Vale Kevin Lees.
On behalf of Kev’s family I regret to inform you of the passing of our great mate, travel buddy and neighbour Kev in the early hours of 17th June at St George Hospital.
Kev served many years as a Police Officer at various places including Campsie in GD’s and Licensing, Sutherland, Weapons Training and Marine Area Command.
Kev battled cancer for a number of years and was confident of beating it until some bad news last August. He fought a mighty battle.
I’ll post funeral details here as soon as they become available.

Chucky Charles
