When Ida joined the NSWP in 1961 she was older than her peers but brought with her the experience of working in the private sector. Ida's early years of policing were in the traditional field of looking after the wellbeing of women and children. In 1973 she joined a number of women and undertook the Detective's Training Course, which she completed with distinction. Ida's work in criminal investigation at Central Police Station spanned 1974 - 1981 after which she moved to Waverley Police Station and then Kogarah where she was the detective sergeant in charge of Rockdale Police Station. In 1978 Ida was awarded the W.D. & H.O. Wills Trophy for the most outstanding female police officer. Ida's background as an accountant served her well, as her later interest and roles involved working on the development of systems, including the Crime Information and Intelligence System and Licensing System. These skills fitted perfectly with Ida's final role as Commander, Telephone Intercept Branch ( 1988 - 1992 ). Ida retired from the NSWP in 1992 at the rank of Chief Inspector after 31 years service. Ida was awarded the Australian Police Medal in 1989.

Nicole NOAL -03 - NSWPF 48715 - Died 26 July 2025
Nicole NOAL

💜🖤🤍 VALE NICOLE NOAL nee BOYCE 🤍🖤💜
It is with extreme sadness that I announce the passing of our much valued club member Nicole Noal nee Boyce.
This post is a bit of a personal one as I have know Nicole for more the 3 quarters of my life.
Nicole was a much valued member of Cambridge Park Netball Club for many many years from juniors right through to seniors even when moving away while studying to become a police office and even travelling from Camden every week the past couple of years to still play for Cambridge Park.
Nicole was such a fighter. Even when life threw her every curve ball, she still took on the challenge head on. Even right till the end.
She was the most kind heart gentle selfless person I have ever met. So much so that when she was diagnosed the 2nd time round she apologised to me because it meant I was going to lose a 2nd childhood friend in less then 2 years. But that summed up Nic. Always thinking of others first.
Nicole your determination, kind heart, loving soul and every other word that one can describe you will be missed truly and deeply. The world has lost another beautiful soul and will never be the same.
You will always be remembered and will always be missed.
Much love, thoughts and prayers to the Boyce and Noal family during this time. Not only myself but also the club will always be there for you.
Love and prayers
Narelle and CPNC Committee

18 February 2025
At the end of last year we launched Senior Constable Nicole Noal‘s fundraising page.
There was an enormous and heartfelt outpouring of support for this strong and generous individual going through such a momentous time, and we thank you all for that 💙
Her colleagues and friends have now organised a Fundraising Dinner for Friday 28 March at The Cube in Campbelltown, and everyone is invited.

Nicole NOAL -02 - NSWPF 48715 - Died 26 July 2025
Nicole NOAL  & daughters.

Event description

In June 2021, Nicole was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. She commenced medical treatment and underwent several medical procedures including invasive surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

In March 2022, Nicole responded positively to surgery by entering remission.

Unfortunately, on 27th November 2024, Nicole received the devastating news that bowel cancer returned. This cancer is incurable. She was informed her life expectancy is 12 months. Nicole will be undergoing chemotherapy in the coming months. It will hopefully extend her life expectancy and assist with pain management.

All profits will go towards Nicole and her family with the mounting medical bills.

Dress for this special night is Cocktail / Semi Formal.

16 December 2024
It’s never a good time for bad news, but it hits even harder at such a family time of the year.
Senior Constable Nicole Noal has been a serving NSW Police Force officer for 13 years, and with her husband (also a NSWPF officer), is raising two young daughters.
Having faced bowel cancer several years ago, Nicole was recently given the news that it had returned, in an inoperable fashion.
She has been given 12 months to live.
Her colleagues have organised a fundraiser to help with the medical financial burden, as Nicole remains determined to create lasting memories with her family while she is able to.

Kath Haines Tribute Ride

At this stage we are going to do a ( bicycle ) ride to celebrate the life of Kath Haines.
The plan:
Meeting at Thomas Humphreys Reserve at Swansea on Sunday 2nd March 2025 at about 7.30 am departing about 8 am and riding to Adamstown and back to Swansea along the Fernleigh Track.
Approximate distance 50 km
If you would like to join us for all or part of the ride please let me know.
Places I would suggest joining the ride if you don’t want to do the whole ride:
Belmont TAFE
Redhead car park (Liles Oval)
Whitebridge (near shops)
Approximate times for the different locations will post later on as we will do a couple of test rides to give people an idea of the time it takes to complete different sections.
This is a ride to celebrate the life of one of the most amazing people I’ve had the honour of meeting and calling my friend.

Neil Davies

This may not be the time but, I recall one afternoon shift working the truck at Toukley and The Entrance truck called urgent to a pool hall around the corner from the police station. We raced over and were met by a tattooed angry giant who had just got out of Long Bay and was fairly off his face on gear.
He spotted us, grabbed a pool cue and started towards us. He said through gritted teeth that he hated cops and was going to flog us.
Kath calmly pulled out the long baton and replied ”I hate loud mouthed shitheads so I will do the flogging! ” He stopped, put down the pool cue and put his hand out to be cuffed. “ Sorry miss ” was his reply and he walked to the truck.
Ballsy lady that one.
Luv you Hainsey💙

EXCLUSIVE

Nicole Finch gave birth to her first child and was over the moon… four months later a shock diagnosis has turned the new mum’s life upside down

  • Detective sergeant Nicole Finch diagnosed with cancer
  • She only gave birth to her first child four months ago
  • A NSW Police Legacy fundraiser has been set up to support her

A cop is fighting for her life after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer just months after giving birth to her first child.

Detective Sergeant Nicole Finch, from Sydney, was on maternity leave after giving birth in August when she was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

NSW Police are rallying around her to help raise funds to support her as she undergoes treatment.

‘[She is] undergoing urgent treatment in hospital,’ Inspector Alison Beeche wrote in a NSW Police Legacy fundraising page.

‘Funds raised will go directly to supporting Nicole’s treatment, providing much needed support to her family, and establishing a brighter future for her son.’

Detective Sergeant Finch joined the NSW Police Force in 2005 and was stationed at Cabramatta before becoming a detective four years later.

She was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant in 2017 before going on to work in State Crime Command in areas including Drug Squad, Chemical Operations Team, Crime Operations and Financial Crime.

Earlier this year, she moved to her current role in People Strategy and Engagement, where she works in the newly created Career Advisory Team as a Career Advisor.

The fundraiser has been shared hundreds of times since it was launched on Tuesday.

Detective sergeant Finch‘s sister Kim shared an update on her sibling’s treatment on Tuesday, revealing the family is grateful for the support of the friends and the community.

‘Round two – Here we go,’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘We will fight and win this round also.

‘Our hearts are broken and our lives are torn apart at this news. But we have hope, faith and love and the support of our family and friends that will help us fight along the way!’

Members of Sloths Dragonboat racing club in Pyrmont, where the detective sergeant is a competitive paddler, have also rallied to get behind the cause.

Fellow paddler Andrew Chan urged members of the community to help support her as she faces the fight of her life.

‘She is the 23rd member of the successful Opens crew whilst Nic drummed through the season,’ he wrote.

‘If you are able, please support her and her family!’

Former police officer Anthony Loxley ( # 38198 ) also urged members of the public to assist detective sergeant Finch during this tough time.

‘Please help this great mum and Sgt of Police if you can,’ he wrote.

The fundraiser has attracted more than $16,700 in 24 hours – smashing its $5000 goal.

UPDATE 18 December 2024: We are deeply saddened to relay the news that Nicole has passed away. Thank you to everybody for your support and well wishes. The money raised in this appeal will go towards helping to raise Nicole’s son, and keeping her memory alive.
