On 14 September, 1957 Constable Jury was riding his Police Special Traffic Patrol cycle in Maitland Road, Mayfield. Another vehicle pulled out onto the roadway from in front of a bus, hitting the cycle and causing it to skid into the path of another oncoming vehicle.

Constable Jury was also hit by the second vehicle and pinned beneath the bumper bar.

He was taken to the Royal Newcastle Hospital suffering fractures and internal injuries, however he died the next day.

The constable was born in Cessnock in 1916 and joined the New South Wales Police Force on 4 February, 1946 after serving four years in the RAAF.

At the time of his death he was stationed at Mayfield.

He is listed in the official New South Wales Police Honour Roll.

Loving grandfather of Luke, Louise, Elise, Casey, Alex, Dane, Hannah, Sam and Joe.

Loving great grandfather to his 17 great grandchildren.

Kerri Parsons

21 November 2025 – NSW Fallen Police FB Group:
On behalf of my husband, Peter Parsons, Assistant Commissioner APM, Retired.
Death of former Assistant Commissioner Charles Vincent Parsons APM – registered number 7336.
It is with great sadness that the family of Charlie Parsons regret to inform of his passing yesterday, 20/11/2025 at Lismore Base Hospital following a short illness.
Charlie was 94 years old and retired from NSWPF in 1993 as an Assistant Commissioner, North Region. Country born, he served the majority of his service in country NSW.
Among his many achievements, Charlie always maintained that his proudest was his marriage to Fay (decd), and his five children – Peter, Anne (decd), Kel (decd), Jennifer and Ben.
Charlie was an avid proponent of the basic rights of the Police Officer, and served as a representative of the NSW Police Association for most of his career. His service was recognised by being made a life member on 25/5/1983. Before he passed he was the second oldest living life member in the history of NSWPA. He was awarded the Australian Police medal in the Queen’s birthday honours awards in 1988.
An avowed people person, Charlie was well respected by all who served with and under him.
He leaves 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Whilst extremely proud of all of them, with a majority serving in first responder occupations in QLD, NSW and VIC, Charlie’s proud policing family and legacy continued with sons Peter (Ret A/C), Kel (decd Det Snr/Sgt), grandsons Alex (current S/C – Port Stephens PAC), Joseph (current Det S/C QLDP), nephew Greg Hargraves (S/C – resigned), brother in law Mike Rogers (NSWP – resigned), nephew Jason Rogers ( QLDP – resigned) and lastly (not least) Charlie’s great grandson Billy Parsons enters NSW Police Academy in early 2026.
A loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he will be sorely missed.
RIP mate.
Peter Parsons.
Funeral details will be forthcoming 💔

LINCOLN, Joanna Ann

It comes with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joanna Lincoln on the 5th December 2025 aged 49 years.

Loving and devoted mum to Olivia (dec) Charlee and Marcus (dec). Jo was the loving daughter of George and Beverly LINCOLN. A much loved sister to Brenda and Tracy and proud Aunty to all her nieces and nephews.

December 2024

On September 27, at the NSW Police Wall of Remembrance, and all around the nation, National Police Remembrance Day was celebrated. Before the ceremony, our Chair Det Supt Donna McCarthy held a private Touchstone Ceremony, where members of the Zucchetti, Burns, and Schell families were presented with the Touchstones of their loved one.

At the service we honoured the names of NSW Police Force’s Sergeant Peter Thomas Stone, and SA Police’s Brevet Sergeant Jason Christopher Doig, who died while on duty, as well as the serving members of NSW Police who have passed away in the last 12 months:

Administrative Assistant Sivarajasingham Sivakumarasingham

Chief Inspector Matthew John Jeremiah Meares

Senior Constable Tanya Louise Smith

Detective Senior Constable Joanne Katherine Travers

Chief Inspector Daniel James Sykes

Sergeant Joshua David Kasun

Communications Officer Nicholas Jones

Sergeant Penny Ann Armstrong

Sergeant Leslie Michael Nugent

Senior Intelligence Analyst Fiona Taylor

Administrative Support Officer Ashley Linden Feeney

Probationary Constable Timothy John Wally Sheppard

General Administrative Support Officer Tammy Leigh Nagle

After the ceremony, three of our young Police Legatees – Oscar, Max, and Bronte – were presented with the Commissioner’s Scholarship. This award has the personal endorsement of the Commissioner, and each young Legatee receives money to support them in their chosen studies and endeavours.

A day of love and remembrance, a day of sadness and of promise.

Canberra Times (ACT : 1926 – 1995),

Friday 18 March 1977, page 10

Policeman gets compensation

SYDNEY, Thursday. — A police officer who still has fragments of a thief’s bullet in his body, was awarded $4,000 compensation today in Central Criminal Court.

Mr Justice Slattery awarded Senior Constable Graham Gerald Bishop, 35, of Ashfield, the maximum compensation under Section 437 of the Crimes Act.

Constable Bishop was shot at Narrandera in January, 1976, in an attempt to arrest an escaper, Mr Mark Robert Evans, 17.

The .22 rifle bullet struck Constable Bishop in the back of his left shoulder, chipping the shoulder-blade and fragmenting.

Mr Evans later pleaded guilty to five charges, including one of maliciously wounding Constable Bishop with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and last November was sentenced to seven years’ jail for that offence.

Mr Justice Slattery read reports from four doctors which said it was likely Constable Bishop‘s future ” would be associated with increasing pain “.
