Liverpool Police Officer – Probationary Constable John. S. G. Clark, a former Driver, Clerk, Shop Assistant and Postal Boy for the P.M.G., entered the Police Academy at Redfern and commenced his Initial Training as part of Class 131.
He was attested in 6/1972 as a Probationary Constable and stationed at No. 22 Division ( Liverpool ) on General Duties.
During 6/1973 he was promoted to the rank of Constable.
In 6/1976 he was transferred to the Communication Branch, then in 1/1977 transferred to No. 34 Division (Fairfield) on General Duties.
During 6/1977 he was promoted to the rank of Constable 1/c.
In 8/1977 transferred to Cabramatta (a sub-station of No. 34 Division) on General Duties.
In 5/1981 he was transferred to No. 20 Division ( PHQ ) – to the Office of the Police Medical Officer.
During 6/1981 he was promoted to the rank of Senior Constable.
In 8/1981 he was transferred to Cabramatta Police Station on General Duties.
In 7/1982 transferred to Fairfield (No. 34 Division)
and in 8/1983 he was “Highly Commended:
i) for his outstanding courage and devotion to duty on the 5th January, 1982 when, despite being continually fired upon by offenders armed with a sawn off shotgun, he with other police, maintained the pursuit of the offenders until they were eventually apprehended and arrested.
Awarded the Commissioner’s Commendation”
signed by C. R. Abbott Commissioner of Police dated 8/1983.
Then in 11/1983 he was transferred to No. 35 Division (Campbelltown) on General Duties.
