  • I’m so sorry I missed the passing of Dennis. A policeman’s policeman.
Dennis was the OIC of Picton when I was one of 2 Detectives stationed there. He was a great inspiration to me to look after your local community. He often mentioned his favourite stations, Boorowa and Wingham.
After his retirement we kept in contact when he retired at Yamba. Typical Dennis he made mates with his community, especially the fishermen who’d bring him the best prawns. We promised to keep in touch when he moved back to the south coast. But life is too quick. He was part of the inspiration that led me to my almost 40 year career.
Rest in peace in COP heaven.

  • I had a lot of contact with Dennis when he was at Boorawa as OIC and I was at Yass. Natures gentleman and full of excellent advice for younger police. I’m not aware of any clients who had the courage to stand up to him. I also worked with his son Darren at Queanbeyan who was a chip off the old block and one of the best detective sergeants I have come across.

I don’t have your contact details Darren but please accept my condolences for the loss of your father, if you happen to read this. I held your father in very high regard. RIP in peace Dennis at your end of watch as the Yanks say.
