Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a Requiem Mass for John at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9 Humphreys Rd, Kincumber South on Tuesday 18.6.19 commencing at 12.00pm. Following the service the cortege will then proceed to the adjacent cemetery for burial .
In lieu of flowers, donations to St Vincent de Paul would be greatly appreciated and a box will be available on the day

April 1940: Former Liverpool ‘I’ District Police Officer – Police Cadet John. P. Lenehan a former Clerk entered the Police Depot at Redfern to become a Police Cadet.
Following his induction as a Police Cadet he was stationed at No. 3 Division in the Plainclothes Room during 6/1940.
Then in 7/1940 he was transferred to No. 10 Division on Clerical Duties.
In 1/1941 he was transferred to the Public Safety Bureau on Clerical Duties.
In 8/1941 he was transferred to the C.I.B. at the Inquiry Office.
During 9/1942 he was transferred to No. 20 Division at the Correspondence Branch, followed by the Subversive Organisations Investigations Bureau (S.O.I.B.) in 3/1943.
Then about July, 1943 he returned to the Police Depot to commence his Initial Training.
August 1943: Former Liverpool ‘I’ District Police Officer – Probationary Constable John. P. Lenehan a former Police Cadet completed his Initial Training.
In view of the results obtained in the Silver Baton Competition, 1943, he was appointed to the Police Force on 1.7.1943, attested as a Probationary Constable and in 8/1943 he was stationed at No. 1 Division on General Duties.
In 3/1944 he was transferred to the C.I.B. Shadowing Squad, (which by 8/1944 was re-named the Observation Branch), where in 7/1944 he was promoted to the rank of Constable, and in 10/1949 he was designated a ‘Detective’.
In 3/1950 he was transferred to No. 7 Division on Criminal Investigations, where in 7/1950 he was promoted to the rank of Detective Constable 1/c.
In 2/1952 transferred to the C.I.B. in Criminal Investigations.
In 7/1954 transferred to No. 18 Division on Criminal Investigations, where in 7/1957 he was promoted to the rank of Detective Senior Constable, and in 5/1958 to the rank of Sergeant 3/c.
In 9/1958 transferred to No. 9 Division on General Duties (returning to uniform).
In 7/1959 transferred to No. 18 Division on General Duties.
In 8/1959 transferred to Rydalmere Police Station (a sub-station of No. 18 Division) as the Officer-in-Charge, where in 10/1965 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant 2/c.
In 3/1966 transferred back to No. 18 Division on General Duties. In 12/1966 transferred to Granville Police Station (a sub-station of No. 26 Division at the time) on General Duties, where in 4/1968 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant 1/c.
Then in 3/1974 transferred to No. 18 Division on General Duties, where in 6/1974 he was promoted to the rank of Inspector 3/c.
December 1974: Liverpool ‘I’ District Police Officer – Inspector 3/c. John. P. Lenehan was transferred from No. 18 Division to No. 32 Division as the Assistant Officer.
In 2/1976 he was transferred to No. 34 Division as the Officer-in-Charge, where in 8/1976 he was promoted to the rank of Inspector 2/c., and in 4/1978 to the rank of Senior Inspector.
In 9/1978 transferred to No. 19 Division as the Officer-in-Charge.
In 12/1978 transferred to ‘I’ District, located at Liverpool, as the Assistant to the Superintendent, where in 2/1980 he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent.
In 3/1980 transferred to No. 20 Division Metropolitan Area as the Relieving Superintendent.
In 11/1980 transferred to ‘I’ District as the Deputy Superintendent. In 12/1980 transferred to ‘J’ District as a Deputy Superintendent.
Then in 12/1982 he retired from the NSW Police Force after serving for 42 years.
